Getting Couple Rings in Korea

Happy Thursday! Couple rings are a common thing in Korea for couples who have dated for a while so to celebrate our 900 days recently, CK and I got couple rings. I actually insisted that we didn't need it to show others our relationship status but he wanted to show us off (he's more of the romantic one in the relationship lol). We wanted something simple, affordable and still good quality so we found a place in Ikseon-dong, which is a hot place for its hanok village and antique stores and restaurants.

Store front

The place is called Couple2ya. In Korean it is 커플이야 (couple-ee-ya) which just means "We are a couple". The 2 is pronounced "ee" so they wrote their store as Couple2ya. We found this place online and made reservations through Naver. If you already know your ring size, you can just order online.

Cafe (on the left)

When you enter, the left side is their cafe area where you can enjoy instant coffee after matching your rings. You should turn right when you enter to pick out your rings first.

Store (on the right)

We were the only customers, probably due to COVID-19, and two ladies were working. The lady in the far back assisted us.

There are a variety of rings. We already picked what ring we wanted online so we just pointed it out.

She had ring template sizes for us to check what size we were (read more for ring size accuracy).

An iPad was used to register and order our rings. We chose a simple 14k gold band ring. I chose the lightest and thinnest ring (0.75g) for simplicity and CK chose a thicker band (1.12g) which she recommended since he had bigger hands.

Price:
0.75g = 71,900 won
1.12g = 71,900 + 24,400 won

We also could have engraving in the rings (less than 10 characters) so we did our initials with a heart and also chose the font from a list. We can chose the regular boxing that the rings will come in or upgrade to a fancier box for an extra fee. We just stuck with the original boxing which is a Tiffany and Co color.

There's also a discount promotion if you subscribe and follow their Youtube and Instagram (using hashtags). I believe you can get 10,000 won ($9 USD) off if you buy a total of 200,000 won ($180) and over. Ours was under 200,000 won but the lady was kind enough to give us a discount. We wrote down our address and the lady told us it would take about a week for it to be delivered to the address we wrote down. It took us less than 20 minutes to pick and choose our rings.

After we paid, she told us that we were welcomed to get some coffee. Due to COVID-19 though, it would only be take-out.

After 6 days, we received the rings. Although the size was just right for me when I tried it in the store with a little bit of space for looseness, the ring was a bit tight so I would recommend getting one size larger. She did tell us that since it's 14k, it would stretch over time.

Overall, we liked the rings and the bonus engraving! Couple rings usually are over 200,000 won per ring and over so I think we found a reasonable price for two rings.
